Shipping

All of our cakes and other baked goods are freshly baked to order before freezing to ensure maximum freshness. Everything is made from scratch in small batches at our shop in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Your items are lovingly hand-packed by the staff at our bakery in Charlottesville. Items are packed with enough dry ice to help them stay well-chilled throughout their journey. It is normal for dry ice to completely melt/sublimate by the time your cake arrives, but if any dry ice remains, please do not handle it directly. (See “My shipment contains dry ice. How do I safely handle dry ice?” for more information.)

Each item comes with a pamphlet containing storing and serving instructions, as well as a QR code for our current flavor menu.

Packages are shipped with UPS via next-day delivery. To maintain the integrity of our product, we exclusively offer shipping via next-day delivery.

Next-day carrier rates vary by distance from our bakery in Charlottesville, Virginia, and range from $20 for nearby destinations to $55 for the farthest locales.

To maintain the integrity of our product, we exclusively offer shipping via next-day service.

Dry ice is solidified carbon dioxide; it is much colder than regular ice and can burn skin similar to frostbite. Additionally, as dry ice melts, it turns into carbon dioxide gas, which can be hazardous when inhaled.

Our items are packaged such that you should NOT need to directly handle the dry ice! Just lift your items out of your shipping box and allow any remaining ice at the bottom to “melt” and turn into gas in a large, well-ventilated space. Do not dispose of dry ice in a sewer, garbage disposal, garbage chute, etc. Keep dry ice out of the reach of children and pets. Never handle dry ice without protective equipment. Never eat or swallow dry ice.

Due to the packing materials and labor required to safely transport cakes via the mail, our shipping items cost more than items purchased for pick-up or local delivery. We appreciate your understanding!

Once an order has shipped from our bakery, Cake Bloom is not responsible for delays in transit caused by our carrier, inclement weather, mechanical errors, incorrect or incomplete shipping information, or other unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.

However, we’ll always make an effort to replace items damaged by shipping delays to the best of our ability. Please contact us for assistance!

We’re sorry to hear that! We pride ourselves on customer service and want to do everything we can to make things right. Please reach out to us for assistance.

About Our Cakes

All of our cakes and other baked goods are freshly baked to order before freezing to ensure maximum freshness. Everything is made from scratch in small batches at our shop in Charlottesville, Virginia.

A full list of ingredients can be found here.

All of our signature cake flavors are nut-free, although please note that we use nuts (including peanuts, almonds, cashews, and pecans) in the kitchen. We occasionally offer almond cake as a seasonal flavor.

Our cakes contain gluten, dairy, and eggs. Our Chantilly cream (found in our Golden Vanilla cake and some seasonal flavors) contains gelatin. We occasionally offer seasonal cake flavors which contain alcohol.

Email us at shop@cakebloom.com for specific questions about allergens and dietary restrictions.

Unfortunately, we don’t offer gluten-free cakes or slices for shipping at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience!

Our Custom & Variety Tasting Boxes and Longboard cakes serve 8 to 16 people.

Our cake slices are designed to maintain their quality and flavor for up to three months in the freezer.

  • Freeze: After removing any slices for immediate tasting, wrap the entire blue box tightly in several layers of plastic wrap and freeze.
  • Thawing: Pull desired slices from the freezer and let thaw in the fridge overnight. Immediately before serving, bring to room temperature on the countertop until buttercream is soft.
  • Unpack: Remove your blue box from shipping container being careful not to touch any remaining dry ice with bare hands.
  • Set-Up: While slices are chilled and firm, open front lid of box and pull bottom tab to remove individual slices from tray; remove cake paper and plate slices on your prettiest plates or platter.
  • Temper: For the best possible flavor and texture, please allow cakes to come to room temperature up to one hour before serving, until buttercream is soft. (We promise, it's worth the wait!)
